Context—Establishing horizontal and vertical geodetic control is an essential part of most Ministry of Transportation, Ontario (MTO) engineering survey projects.
Our role—Callon Dietz has established horizontal and vertical control for over 200 kilometres of Ontario highways. For horizontal control surveys, we use GPS and/or total station methods. For vertical control, we use precise geodetic digital levels. This technology eliminates transcription and reading errors, allowing us to achieve extremely accurate and repeatable results. Least squares adjustments are performed on the field survey observations using GEOLAB software.
We have experience working in a number of map projections and have completed projects that span multiple map projection zones.
