Large-scale pipeline or route surveys allow for the construction of trunk utility corridors, such as gas pipelines or hydro tower lines. Because these routes generally stretch over large areas, establishing accurate project control is the first step in a successful project. For route design, topographic detail is usually collected so that designers are aware of obstructions from physical features. Photogrammetric and/or ground survey methods are used to capture this detail.
Our staff, directed by utility company engineers, prepares the drawings used for constructing the pipeline. During construction, our role is to assure the pipe is built in the proper location within the right of way and to log the location of pipe used, welds and who welded them. We also provide layout so that the ground can be restored to its original condition. Final drawings show the as-constructed condition of the pipelines. ![]() |
