PARTY chief - senior
one (1) position

Positions: Party Chief - Senior

Locations: Carleton Place, Ontario

Reports To:  Field Supervisor and/or Project Manager

Responsibility & Job Duties

​The position includes, but is not limited to:

  • Liaise with Field Supervisors and drafting-mapping division and clients in the field

  • Managing a 2-3 person field crew

  • Use and maintenance of Robotic Total Stations, GNSS survey instruments, Digital Levels and 3D Laser Scanners

  • Monitor, measure and report on the progress of projects and implement corrective actions ensure project specifications are met. Communicate progress to clients and project managers.

  • Management of field data, notes and records of field work

  • Ensuring safety and quality control policies are adhered to

  • Technical support for internal and external clients

  • Assisting in preparation of field portion of proposals

  • Progress reporting to Field Supervisor

  • Performing computations on field data

  • Support and coordination with drafting-mapping division

  • Field staff mentoring and training for new staff

  • Field equipment and vehicle maintenance

  • Perform duties in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Callon Dietz Health & Safety program and internal safety protocols

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Responsible for the following types, but not limited to of engineering survey projects that a Crew Chief would be responsible for include, but are not limited to:

    • Engineering Surveys

    • ​Topographic Surveys

    • Bathymetric Surveys

    • Geodetic Surveys

    • Utility Surveys

    • Aerial Surveys

    • MMS/Lidar Surveys

  • Legal Surveys

    • Legal (Cadastral) Surveys

    • Land Development/Information Surveys

    • SUE (Subsurface Utility Engineering Surveys

Qualification Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Geomatics, Engineering Technology or related field from a recognized institution or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of three years’ field experience in geomatics

  • Extensive experience with Robotic Total Stations, GNSS survey equipment, Laser Scanners and Digital Levels

  • Proficient with survey field data transfer software and general computer software/applications

  • Strong knowledge of legal surveying requirements and proper note-taking abilities

  • Able to work in a team environment and independently

  • Knowledge and understanding of legal survey plans

  • Valid drivers license
