Our team of qualified and highly motivated people utilize some of the most advanced equipment and software in the industry to provide quality services and products in the cadastral (legal), construction, engineering and geodetic survey fields and in mapping, land information and GIS sector. one (1) position

Positions: SUE Field Assistant

Locations: Oshawa, Ontario

Reports To: SUE Field Lead


The position includes, but is not limited to:

  • Act as on-site point of contact when required.

  • Ensure suitability and readiness of equipment.
  • Collection of field data; locating all utilities utilizing a wide range of equipment such as single and multi-signal locating equipment and ground penetrating radar.

  • Supervise/direct sub-consultants (CCTV, vacuum excavation, etc.)

  • Ability to read utility records, including plan and profile drawings.

  • Read scope of work documents and perform safety site inspections.

  • Complete electronic field sketches with supplied equipment.

  • Operate survey equipment to collect paint marking and utility information for the projects.

  • Drive a work vehicle safely, maintain inventory and safe storage of equipment.

  • Travel to other cities/areas (to project site), work in a variety of weather and site conditions.

  • Work evenings, nights, weekends or out-of-town on occasion.

  • Other duties as assigned.

(Callon Dietz Locates will provide paid training for all required job skills, although prior experience is an asset)

  • Utility locating experience an asset.

  • Utility locating training (ORCGA DPT, for example) is preferred.

  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization

  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills 

  • Proficient computer skills

  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures

  • Clean drivers License

  • Able to work outside for long periods (year round)
